Day 11

 The job of a soul is to stay awake;

the soul is a metaphor. In my metaphor for metaphor

∼i∼ hope to stay awake. Here at year’s end the ring

of

the eye of the kinglet precedes

one

of

its colors. Usnea clumps in

some

of

the dry oaks & the fox enters

the rimmed burrow … in the human

sphere

of

this disaster, billionaire

humans throwing money at the fracking lobby …

My wife of decomposers has sage skin, she will

not purr unless the air is good & says you’re not

in a dark mood you’re depressed—

 Stop, mighty city spread out— much of life—

to be beyond—O Capital our Capital our fearful

 ship is done … beside the Bay,

the one ∼we∼ call Much Beard hangs upon its

 central cords, sage green, proud, manic,
